## What has to be true to appear here

- Self-serve exploration for a non-engineer, not just a dashboard someone else built
- Funnel and retention analysis as first-class features
- Documented handling of identity resolution across anonymous and known users
- Raw data export or a warehouse connection the customer controls

## What every product here was put through

1. Send a known event stream of 5 million events with deliberate duplicates and late arrivals; score counts against ground truth
2. Build the same three-step funnel in each product and compare the numbers they report for identical data
3. Test identity stitching: anonymous session, then signup, then login on a second device
4. Time a non-engineer building a retention chart unaided, from a written question

## The shortlist

## Verdicts

## Frequently asked questions

### Why do two analytics tools give different numbers for the same funnel?

Mostly windowing and identity resolution. On identical data our three-step funnel varied by up to 11 percent between products, driven by whether steps must occur in order and how long a user has to complete. Neither number is wrong; they answer slightly different questions, and almost no dashboard says which.

### Event-based pricing, what is the trap?

Debug and test traffic. Two products bill every event including the ones your staging environment sends, and one counts a single page view as up to four events depending on how it is instrumented. Our receipts model cost at real volume rather than at the quoted event tier.

### Do we need this if we already have a warehouse?

You need the exploration layer, not the collection layer. If your data is already in a warehouse, buy the product that reads from it rather than one that wants to re-collect everything, and check the per-query cost, because that is where warehouse-native tools get expensive.
