The best ai document processing and data extraction software

Software that reads unstructured documents, invoices, contracts, forms, statements, and outputs structured fields with a confidence score and a path for human review.

What has to be true to appear here

  • Outputs structured fields with per-field confidence, not just document-level text
  • Provides a human-in-the-loop review queue
  • Handles scanned and photographed documents, not only digital PDFs
  • Supports field-level accuracy measurement against ground truth

Inclusion is not for sale, and neither is order. Nine of the products we cover have no affiliate programme at all.

What every product here was put through

  1. 1.Process 500 invoices across 60 vendor layouts, including 80 phone photographs, and score field-level accuracy against a hand-keyed ground truth
  2. 2.Measure calibration: when the product reports 95 percent confidence, how often is the field actually right?
  3. 3.Time the human review loop end to end for 100 documents
  4. 4.Introduce a new unseen layout and measure documents needed before accuracy stabilises

The shortlist

Tested products come first, ordered by score. Untested products appear below them regardless of their community rating, because we have not looked at them. Nothing on this page can read a vendor’s subscription tier.

What each one actually does

Real questions

What buyers actually ask

Sourced from launch threads, review text and search data, not invented to fill a schema block. Each answer is two to four sentences and says a number where we have one.
How is this priced?

Per page or per document, almost always with a minimum monthly commitment that dominates cost at low volume. Below roughly 2,000 documents a month the commitment is the whole bill.

Why this page has no winner badge

“Best overall” is a question about your situation, not about the software. The table gives you a tested score, a real price at your team size, and a one-line statement of who each product is wrong for. The last of those is usually the one that decides it.

Found something out of date?

Pricing moves constantly in this category and we miss things. Send a correction with a dated link and it goes in the public log, with your handle on it if you want it there.
